R. Doane Hoag - Background
Doane has been an artist all of his life, growing up in a family with a Grandmother, Elizabeth Lochrie (see the E. Lochrie web site), who was a noted painter of American Indians, a Mother, Betty McGlynn Hoag, a well respected Northern California art Historian, and a Father, Paul S. Hoag, a successful Architect.
Doane started drawing and painting as a child and although he majored in art in college, he considers himself mainly self taught.
Paintings have been published in South West Art, The New Yorker, and other publications. His work was exhibited by the Portland, Ore. Art Museum in a Juried Entry. The Maritime Museum, the City Hall
and the Flavel Museum in Astoria, Oregon, and the US Bank in Cannon Beach Oregon display artwork by Doane. The Beatrice Woods Foundation and School in Ojai, California has a painting in the entry way.
Art work is also in private collections throughout the U.S.A. and Mexico.
Single and group shows and has been represented by galleries in Brimmerton and Seattle, WA; Cannon Beach, Astoria, Nieuport and Sheridan, Oregon, Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas.; Hot Springs, Arkansas. and in
San Miguel, Mexico.
He also owns an Architectural Graphics business, Doane Design, serving the Monterey and Carmel coast areas.
